Kochi City Police served a notice to Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko on Friday, directing him to appear for questioning at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Ernakulam North Police Station regarding his alleged escape from a hotel during an anti-drug raid.
The notice was delivered to Chacko’s family in Thrissur, as he was not present, with his father confirming to reporters that the actor would appear by 3 p.m. and also address a related complaint before the Internal Complaints Committee of the film Soothravakyam.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, when the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) raided a hotel near Kaloor at 10:45 p.m., targeting a drug case suspect. Although the suspect was not found, police noticed Chacko’s name in the hotel register.

When officers approached his third-floor room, he allegedly fled, jumping from a window onto a second-floor sheet, which tore, before leaping into a swimming pool and escaping via the staircase, as captured in viral CCTV footage. No drugs were found, and no case has been registered, but police seek to understand his motives, with a team led by Ernakulam Central Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing the probe.
Concurrently, actress Vincy Aloshious named Chacko in complaints to the Kerala Film Chamber and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), alleging inappropriate behavior under drug influence during the Soothravakyam shoot.
Aloshious, vocal at a ‘No to Drugs’ campaign, later withdrew her complaint but maintained her stance against working with drug users. Chacko, acquitted in a 2015 Kochi drug case due to police procedural lapses, posted Instagram memes mocking the escape speculation.
