Republican Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy announced that his campaign for Ohio Governor raised $9.88 million during the second half of 2025 (July through December), surpassing the $9.7 million collected in the first half of the year. The campaign described this as the strongest single reporting period ever recorded in an Ohio gubernatorial race. When combined, the total raised in 2025 exceeded $19.57 million from supporters alone, more than doubling the previous record of $8.4 million set by Mike DeWine in 2017. These figures do not include any personal contributions from Ramaswamy himself.
Since launching his bid in late February 2025, Ramaswamy has participated in 112 campaign events with a fundraising component. The early hauls have already outpaced the entire campaign totals of several past Ohio gubernatorial candidates, including Republican John Kasich in 2010 and 2014, Republican Mike DeWine in 2022, and Democrat Richard Cordray in 2018. Campaign manager Jonathan Ewing highlighted the unprecedented level of support, stating that raising nearly $20 million in the year before the election sends a clear signal of historic momentum unmatched by other contenders.
Ramaswamy's fundraising success has been bolstered by significant endorsements, beginning with President Donald Trump on the first day of his campaign. He has since secured backing from conservative lawmakers, community leaders, law enforcement officials, business executives, and labor groups in Ohio—many of which have historically supported Democratic candidates. Officials noted that this broad coalition, combined with the rapid pace of contributions, positions Ramaswamy on track to surpass Mike DeWine's previous total fundraising record of $24 million from the 2018 race.

The semiannual finance report covering July 1 through December 31, 2025, is expected to be officially filed with the Ohio secretary of state by January 31, 2026. The 2026 gubernatorial election will determine the successor to term-limited Republican Governor Mike DeWine. If victorious, Ramaswamy would become the third Indian American to serve as a U.S. governor, following Bobby Jindal (Louisiana) and Nikki Haley (South Carolina).
Ramaswamy's campaign has emphasized themes of economic growth, education reform, and law enforcement support while positioning him as an outsider challenging the political establishment. The substantial early fundraising reflects strong grassroots enthusiasm and positions him as a frontrunner in the Republican primary ahead of the general election later in 2026.
