US President Donald Trump on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Iran’s leadership, saying he no longer sees value in continuing diplomatic engagement over Tehran’s nuclear programme. Speaking during the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, Trump declared that negotiations with Iran were effectively over and accused its leaders of acting dishonestly during previous discussions. His remarks came amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran following recent military confrontations in the region.
Trump criticised Iranian officials, alleging that they had not negotiated in good faith and had misrepresented discussions after meetings with US representatives. He said that any future talks would be meaningless if Iran continued to deny or change positions after negotiations. The president’s comments represented one of his strongest dismissals of diplomacy with Tehran since tensions between the two countries escalated.
The US president also addressed the recent conflict-related developments, stating that military action had resumed following attacks connected to the Strait of Hormuz. The situation has increased concerns about a wider regional confrontation, with governments and international observers closely monitoring the possibility of further escalation between the United States and Iran.

Trump’s remarks were made while he was attending the NATO summit, where discussions among allied nations focused on global security challenges and defence cooperation. His statements on Iran added another layer of tension to the ongoing international debate over Tehran’s nuclear activities and the future of diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further instability in the Middle East.
The latest developments have drawn attention from regional allies and financial markets, which remain sensitive to any escalation involving major oil-producing regions. Analysts have warned that increased military tensions could have broader geopolitical and economic consequences, particularly for energy markets and international security arrangements.
The comments signal growing uncertainty over the possibility of renewed negotiations between Washington and Tehran. With diplomatic channels appearing increasingly strained, international efforts to manage the dispute remain under pressure as both sides continue to take a tougher stance amid continuing regional tensions.
