A devastating crash claimed the lives of four medical personnel on Tuesday when a medical transport plane burst into flames on the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona.
The tragedy unfolded near Chinle’s airport, approximately 200 miles northeast of Flagstaff, as the Beechcraft 300, operated by CSI Aviation out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, attempted to land. The team was en route to a hospital to retrieve a patient, highlighting their commitment to saving lives.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident, but the cause remains unclear. Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren expressed profound grief, stating, “These brave individuals dedicated their lives to helping others, and their loss leaves a void in our community.”
The crash has sparked an outpouring of support for the victims’ families and renewed focus on the risks faced by medical transport crews serving remote areas.
