Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong shared a musical moment during the Singapore-Thailand Leaders’ Retreat in Bangkok, with Anutin singing while Wong accompanied him on guitar. The leaders performed The Beatles’ “Let It Be” and Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind” during the gathering on Wednesday, adding a lighter touch to their diplomatic engagement.
A video of the performance circulated online and drew a warm response from viewers. Social media users described the exchange as a positive example of diplomacy and highlighted the unusual sight of two national leaders sharing a stage through music. The performance took place alongside formal discussions focused on strengthening relations between Singapore and Thailand.
The Bangkok gathering marked the first Singapore-Thailand Leaders’ Retreat between Anutin and Wong and revived a platform that had remained inactive for more than a decade. During their meeting, the leaders reviewed bilateral relations and discussed cooperation in food and energy security, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, connectivity, fintech and the digital economy.

The two countries also reaffirmed their defence and economic cooperation while identifying additional areas for partnership. These include the green and digital economies, energy resilience, food security and efforts to combat transnational crime. Wong described the discussions as candid and productive, highlighting the trust between the two leaderships and the strong institutional ties linking the countries.
Singapore and Thailand also agreed to coordinate more closely as they prepare to take up the ASEAN chairmanship in 2027 and 2028, respectively. The two governments plan to develop a multi-year agenda designed to maintain continuity and momentum between their respective chairmanships and advance initiatives important to the region.
The musical exchange provided a relaxed interlude during discussions covering a broad range of bilateral and regional priorities. While the retreat focused on strengthening practical cooperation between the two Southeast Asian neighbours, the performance also offered a public display of the rapport between Anutin and Wong.
