Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has secured memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 3,200 crore from leading German companies during his ongoing week-long visit to Germany and the United Kingdom, aimed at attracting global investments. The agreements, signed with Knorr-Bremse, Nordex Group, and ebm-papst, are set to create over 6,000 jobs and bolster Tamil Nadu’s position as a hub for advanced engineering and renewable energy manufacturing.
Knorr-Bremse, a Munich-based global leader in braking systems, will invest Rs 2,000 crore to establish its first major manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, focusing on railway doors and braking systems. This project is expected to generate 3,500 jobs, strengthening the state’s railway components and engineering ecosystem.
Similarly, Nordex Group, a top wind turbine manufacturer, will expand its operations with a Rs 1,000-crore investment, creating 2,500 jobs and reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s leadership in green industrialization. Additionally, ebm-papst, a pioneer in energy-efficient electric motors, will invest Rs 201 crore over five years to expand its Global Capability Centre and manufacturing base, adding 250 jobs in HVAC, automotive, and industrial applications.
Stalin also held discussions with BMW Group leaders, who expressed keen interest in future expansions in Tamil Nadu. The chief minister, set to return on September 8, invited BMW to deepen its engagement with India through the state, highlighting Tamil Nadu’s investor-friendly policies and robust industrial infrastructure.
These investments mark a significant step toward positioning Tamil Nadu as a global manufacturing powerhouse, with a focus on sustainable and high-tech industries.
