MDMK MP Durai Vaiko has issued an urgent plea to the Indian government to rescue Kishore Saravanan, a third-year medical student from Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, allegedly coerced into joining the Russian military. Kishore, from Srimushnam, was reportedly detained by Russian police over a drug-related case linked to his roommates, despite no solid evidence against him.
Vaiko, addressing the media, revealed that Kishore has endured imprisonment, physical abuse, and psychological torment, being forced to sign documents under duress. The student contacted his family on July 12, describing his ordeal and stating he’s undergoing mandatory military training, with deployment to the Ukraine warfront looming—possibly as early as August 2. “His life is at grave risk if sent to war,” Vaiko warned.
Kishore’s parents, Saravanan and Bhama, who sold their land to fund his medical education in Russia, joined the press conference, visibly distraught. They shared a chilling voice message from Kishore, confirming his imminent dispatch to the frontline. “We beg the Indian and Russian governments to save our son and bring him home,” they pleaded.

The family’s repeated appeals to Indian authorities have so far gone unanswered, amplifying their desperation. Vaiko urged immediate diplomatic intervention to secure Kishore’s release before it’s too late, highlighting the dire consequences of inaction in this escalating crisis.
