Qatar’s emergency services have issued a high-level security alert, sending urgent notifications to all mobile phones across the nation for the first time in a week. Authorities warned residents to remain indoors and stay away from windows due to an imminent threat of an Iranian missile or drone attack, according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA).

The alert comes amid escalating tensions in the Gulf region, with officials urging the public to prioritise immediate safety and follow official protocols. The nationwide warning marks a significant intensification in security measures, reflecting the seriousness of the perceived threat and the country’s efforts to protect civilians from potential aerial strikes.

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior advised residents to shelter in place or move to designated safe zones to ensure maximum protection. Authorities emphasised avoiding exposed areas and remaining indoors until further notice, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry also issued an advisory after sirens were sounded across the country. In a post on X, the ministry instructed citizens and residents to remain calm and seek the nearest safe location, underscoring regional coordination in response to potential threats.

The heightened alert follows a series of military escalations in the Gulf. Since February 28, when the United States and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran, Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Dubai, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf countries hosting US forces. These actions have disrupted global shipping routes and heightened security concerns across the region.

Analysts say the warnings reflect the volatility of the current geopolitical environment in the Gulf, with countries on high alert to prevent civilian casualties while responding to complex regional tensions.
