Spotify users in the United States and parts of Asia reported disruptions on Monday as the music streaming platform experienced multiple technical issues. According to outage monitoring website DownDetector, hundreds of users reported problems accessing key features of the service, including audio streaming, the mobile app, and the web platform.
DownDetector recorded a spike in complaints, with up to 478 users in the US reporting issues with Spotify. Among the reported problems, around 32% of users faced difficulties with audio streaming, while 30% experienced problems with the app and 28% reported issues with the website.
Several users reported error messages while attempting to play songs, including the notification “Can’t play this right now,” according to Spotify’s community message board tracking ongoing issues. Users from parts of Asia also reported seeing errors such as “Something went wrong” and “Page not available” while trying to access the web player and desktop application.

Spotify acknowledged the outage reports through its official status updates account on X, stating that the company was aware of the issues and was investigating the cause. The platform did not immediately provide details about the reason behind the disruption or an estimated timeline for a full resolution.
The outage reports were concentrated in several major US cities, including Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco, according to DownDetector’s heat map. Other locations showing complaints included Washington, Dallas, Phoenix, Seattle, Austin, and Miami.
The disruption comes after Spotify recently made changes to its subscription offerings, including reducing subscription prices in India and discontinuing its Premium Lite plan. The company has not announced whether the latest technical issues are connected to any recent updates or changes to its services.
