Samajwadi Party MP Iqra Hasan on Saturday claimed she was placed under house arrest at her residence in Kairana after a mosque inside the Saharanpur District Magistrate’s office complex was demolished during an overnight operation. The demolition has triggered a political dispute, with the SP questioning the circumstances surrounding the action. Authorities, however, have maintained that the structure was illegal and had encroached on government land.

The mosque was demolished after an order by the City Magistrate declared the structure unauthorised and identified it as an encroachment on government property. The order also imposed a fine of approximately ₹6.41 crore on those occupying the disputed structure. The overnight demolition has since become a major political issue in the region, with opposition leaders raising questions over the timing and manner of the operation.

Hasan alleged that police action followed the demolition and that she was restricted to her residence in Kairana. The Samajwadi Party MP has been vocal on the issue, while the developments have drawn attention from party leaders and supporters.
