A US Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President JD Vance’s security detail has been suspended following allegations that the employee disclosed confidential information about Vance’s travel arrangements, according to a report by CNN. The agency has launched an internal investigation to determine whether the agent will face administrative action or possible criminal charges.
The alleged disclosure involved claims that some agents were frustrated with last-minute personal travel requests involving the Vice President. The information was reportedly shared with media outlet MS Now, prompting an internal review by the Secret Service’s internal affairs division.
According to reports, one incident that drew attention involved a proposed trip to transport Vance and his young son aboard Marine Two for a golf lesson in Washington. The trip was ultimately cancelled due to bad weather, but the request reportedly raised concerns among some personnel involved in protecting the Vice President.

The report also claimed that Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance used helicopter transportation for several trips to Middleburg, Virginia, while exploring housing options. The use of Marine Two for certain travel would require approval from the White House Military Office, with helicopter operations involving significant taxpayer costs.
A spokesperson for Vice President Vance rejected any suggestion of misconduct and expressed appreciation for Secret Service personnel responsible for protecting the Vice President and his family. The spokesperson said the agents perform their duties with professionalism and dedication.
The investigation comes as the Trump administration has increased efforts to identify and prosecute unauthorised disclosures to the media. Separately, the administration recently subpoenaed journalists from The New York Times over a report concerning security issues related to the new Air Force One, leading to renewed debate over press freedoms and government efforts to prevent leaks.
