In the early hours of July 10, 2025, Russia unleashed a ferocious missile and drone attack on Kyiv, killing at least two people and injuring 13, while sparking fires across multiple districts. The assault, following a record-breaking barrage the previous night, targeted residential buildings, warehouses, and offices, with debris igniting a blaze on the top floor of an apartment block in Shevchenkivskyi District, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Administration, called the losses “terrible,” expressing condolences to the victims’ families.
Karyna Holf, a 23-year-old resident, described losing nearly everything after a missile shattered her living room, leaving her with just a backpack, phone, and coat. “There are people who have no one at all,” she said, highlighting the human toll.
Over 1,000 people, including 70 children, sought refuge in metro stations as Russia deployed 397 Shahed and decoy drones alongside cruise and ballistic missiles, aiming to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defenses.
