Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has launched Vision 2047, an audacious blueprint that positions the state to leapfrog both China and Japan and secure a place among the world’s top three economies by the centenary of India’s independence. Speaking at a high-profile ceremony in Hyderabad, Reddy declared that the era of looking up to East Asian nations as benchmarks is over; instead, Telangana will set the new global standard with a projected one-trillion-dollar economy and a per capita income that will rival the wealthiest nations on earth.
Reddy asserted that China and Japan must now be treated as direct competitors rather than aspirational models. He pointed to Telangana’s youthful population — with an average age significantly lower than that of ageing societies in East Asia — coupled with explosive growth in information technology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, aerospace, and defence manufacturing as decisive advantages that will enable the state to outpace established economic superpowers within just 22 years.
The 250-page Vision 2047 document lays down precise, time-bound targets: a state GDP of $1 trillion by 2047, per capita income soaring beyond $40,000, zero poverty, 100% urban-grade infrastructure in every mandal, and global leadership in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, electric vehicles, green hydrogen, and space technology. Reddy stressed that the vision is designed to bind every future government, irrespective of party, through legislative safeguards and a permanent Vision Implementation Authority chaired by the Chief Minister.

To realise this ambition, the Congress Government has already rolled out mega infrastructure projects including the 340-km Regional Ring Road, the Hyderabad Future City spanning 45,000 acres, the transformative Musi Riverfront Development, four new radial roads, and a 400-km metro network expansion. These initiatives, Reddy claimed, will convert the entire Hyderabad-Orbit into a seamless mega-metropolis larger than Singapore, Dubai, and Seoul combined, attracting tens of trillions in domestic and foreign investment while generating millions of high-skill jobs.
Concluding his address, Revanth Reddy issued a nationwide and global call to action, urging Telangana’s youth, industrialists, NRIs, and the entire Indian diaspora to rally behind this historic mission. He proclaimed that when Telangana achieves its 2047 targets, it will not only redefine India’s standing in the comity of nations but also demonstrate to every developing region worldwide that extraordinary economic transformation remains possible in a single generation through bold vision and relentless execution.
