A private Cessna Citation III jet crashed in central Mexico on December 15, 2025, while attempting an emergency landing near Toluca International Airport, resulting in the deaths of at least seven individuals, with authorities later confirming no survivors among the ten people on board, including eight passengers and two crew members.
The incident occurred in the industrial area of San Mateo Atenco, specifically in San Pedro Totoltepec, approximately three miles from the airport and 31 miles west of Mexico City. The aircraft had departed from Acapulco on Mexico's Pacific coast, undertaking what was intended to be a standard domestic flight before encountering severe difficulties that necessitated the emergency landing attempt.
Mexico State Civil Protection Coordinator Adrián Hernández reported that the jet carried a total of ten occupants. Initial recovery operations at the crash site yielded seven bodies, but as emergency teams progressed through the debris, the death toll was revised to ten, with no indications of any survivors. The identification process and notification of next of kin were underway amid ongoing operations.

Eyewitness videos and accounts detailed the aircraft's harrowing final moments, as it descended rapidly and attempted to touch down on an open soccer field in a residential and industrial neighborhood. Unfortunately, the jet deviated from its intended path, striking the metal roof of a nearby trailer repair workshop and industrial building, which caused an immediate explosion and a fierce fire that engulfed the wreckage and surrounding structures.
The intensity of the resulting inferno required the swift evacuation of approximately 130 individuals from adjacent businesses and homes, according to San Mateo Atenco Mayor Ana Muñiz. Firefighters, Red Cross personnel, and other emergency services responded promptly to extinguish the blaze and secure the area, while federal aviation authorities initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the precise cause of the mechanical failure or other factors leading to the tragedy.
