The brother of acclaimed Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi was allegedly attacked with sticks and clubs following a dispute over land in Bihar's Gopalganj district, police officials said on Sunday. The incident occurred in Belsand village, the actor's ancestral village located in the Barauli area of the district. Authorities have launched an investigation and arrested one suspect in connection with the assault.
The victim, identified as Vijendranath Tiwari, reportedly sustained injuries during the attack and was rushed to the Gopalganj Model Hospital for treatment. Due to the nature of his injuries, doctors later referred him to a medical facility in Patna for further care. Officials have not yet released detailed information regarding his current condition, but police described the incident as a serious assault arising from a local dispute.
According to preliminary findings, the attack was linked to a disagreement over land ownership or related property matters. Local police responded swiftly after receiving information about the incident and began efforts to identify those involved. Investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the confrontation and are gathering statements from witnesses and family members.

Vinay Tiwari confirmed that one accused person has been arrested and is being sent to judicial custody. The officer stated that the suspect has been identified and that further legal procedures are underway. Despite the high-profile nature of the case because of its connection to the actor, members of the Tripathi family have so far declined to comment publicly on the incident. Authorities said that family members have not yet submitted a formal written complaint. Police indicated that additional legal action will be taken once a detailed complaint is received and reviewed.
The incident has drawn attention because of Pankaj Tripathi's prominence in the Indian film industry and his roots in Bihar.
