Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated the people and government of Nepal on the successful and peaceful conduct of elections, describing the event as a significant achievement in Nepal’s democratic journey.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, PM Modi said it was heartening to see Nepali citizens exercising their democratic rights with enthusiasm and responsibility. He noted that the smooth and orderly voting process reflected the maturity of Nepal’s political institutions and the commitment of its citizens to democratic values.
The Prime Minister called the elections a historic milestone, highlighting that the outcome would enable Nepal to continue strengthening its democratic framework and governance. He praised the efforts of the Election Commission of Nepal, law enforcement agencies, and political parties for ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process.

“As a close friend and neighbour, India remains steadfast in its commitment to working closely with the people of Nepal and their new Government to scale new heights of shared peace, progress, and prosperity,” PM Modi said in his post.
India has historically maintained strong diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties with Nepal, supporting initiatives in trade, infrastructure, health, and education. PM Modi’s message reaffirmed India’s intent to continue collaboration on projects that promote mutual growth and regional stability.
The elections in Nepal saw widespread participation across the country, reflecting public confidence in the democratic process despite challenges such as difficult terrain and political differences.
