Panic gripped passengers aboard an IndiGo flight after a man allegedly attempted to open the emergency exit door mid-air, later claiming he was “possessed by a ghost". The incident occurred on flight 6E-185, which was travelling from Bengaluru to Varanasi on Saturday, shortly before landing at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport.
According to officials, the passenger, identified as Mohammad Adnan from Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district, first attempted to tamper with the emergency door around 15 minutes after takeoff. The cabin crew quickly intervened, and the passenger reportedly claimed it was a mistake. He was warned and remained calm for the rest of the journey, raising no immediate concerns among crew members.
However, the situation escalated again as the aircraft prepared to land. With the plane approximately 500 feet above the ground, Adnan allegedly made another attempt to open the emergency exit door. The crew promptly alerted the cockpit, prompting the pilot to abort the landing and execute a go-around manoeuvre to ensure passenger safety.
