In a major boost for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar, over 400 social and political workers from Gadchiroli and Chandrapur districts joined the party during a grand induction ceremony at Mahila Vikas Mandal near Mantralaya, Nariman Point. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar presided over the event, joined by senior leaders including Nawab Malik, NCP State President Sunil Tatkare, MLA Dharmaraobaba Atram, and MLA Shivajirao Garje.
The event, held ahead of the upcoming Zilla Parishad and Municipal Council elections, underscores NCP’s growing influence in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region, particularly in tribal areas. The induction, guided by Dharmaraobaba Atram, a former Cabinet Minister and Aheri MLA, saw prominent figures like Nitesh Narote, Laxman Veladi, Swami Godari, Chandraya Durgam, and Smt. Nutan Revatkar join the party, pledging to advance its development agenda.
A senior inductee remarked, “Dharmaraobaba Atram’s dedication to public service and Ajit Pawar’s vision for the Mahayuti government inspired us to join NCP. We aim to strengthen the party’s presence across Gadchiroli and Chandrapur.”

Atram’s journey, marked by his resilience after being held hostage by Naxalites for 17 days, was a focal point. His efforts in securing mining-related jobs for over 5,000 families in Gadchiroli have cemented his reputation as a grassroots leader. This influx of members signals NCP’s rising clout in tribal and rural communities, positioning it strongly for upcoming electoral battles.
