Family members of Aditya Anand, the main accused in a workers’ protest that allegedly turned violent in Noida, have defended him, stating that his actions were driven by a demand for fair wages for labourers. The case has drawn attention to labour rights issues and the circumstances surrounding the protest.
Aditya, a BTech graduate from the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, had last spoken to his family over a week before the incident. According to his brother, Akash Anand, the conversation was routine, focusing on family matters and household needs, with no indication of the events that would follow.
The family said they first learned about Aditya’s alleged involvement through social media, where his photographs began circulating widely, with claims that he was absconding. This was soon followed by calls from media outlets seeking comments, bringing sudden public attention to the family.

Relatives have maintained that Aditya had long been engaged in social work and labour advocacy. Around 2019, he became associated with Mazdoor Bigul, a group focused on raising awareness among urban workers about their rights, wages, and working conditions.
The protest in Noida reportedly escalated into violence, leading to police action and the identification of Aditya as a key accused. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, examining the sequence of events and the roles played by those involved in the demonstration.
The case has sparked a broader debate on labour rights, activism, and law enforcement, with questions being raised about the balance between peaceful protest and public order. As the investigation progresses, both legal proceedings and public discourse are expected to shape the outcome of the case.
