A temporary outage in the reservation and passenger service system operated by Navitaire disrupted airline operations across India and several international regions on Thursday, impacting check-in services at multiple airports, including the national capital.
The disruption affected check-in operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport, where airlines relying on the Navitaire system were forced to switch to manual processing for a brief period. Airport authorities confirmed that while flight movements continued, passenger processing experienced delays.
Except for Air India, which operates on a different passenger service system, most other airlines using Navitaire’s platform reported operational interruptions. The outage had a ripple effect across India, as well as parts of the Asia-Pacific and European regions, before services were gradually restored.

Navitaire, a subsidiary of Amadeus IT Group, is known for providing cloud-native reservation and passenger service systems (PSS) for airlines and rail operators. Its technology supports high-volume ticketing, ancillary sales, booking management, and end-to-end passenger processing from reservation to boarding.
Officials stated that the outage was interim in nature, and technical teams worked swiftly to restore normalcy. While the disruption was temporary, it highlighted the aviation sector’s increasing dependence on integrated digital infrastructure for seamless passenger handling and operational efficiency.
