Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on a five-day visit to Singapore, held high-level talks with officials from the Housing Development Board (HDB), Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), Singapore Cooperation Enterprise, and the World Bank to advance urban housing projects in Amaravati. Naidu invited HDB to partner in developing the state’s capital, emphasizing sustainable, affordable housing inspired by Singapore’s globally acclaimed urban planning. He toured the Bidadari Estate, a 250-acre project housing over 10,000 families, praising its eco-friendly design and community focus as a model for Amaravati’s vision of blending modern infrastructure with green innovation.
Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious urban roadmap, noting that Singapore previously provided Amaravati’s master plan, with the World Bank now a key financial partner, contributing $800 million alongside $789 million from ADB and $11,000 crore from HUDCO. Discussions covered quality housing for urban and semi-urban areas, with a focus on Amaravati’s 217-square-kilometer development zone. The state has approved ₹1,732.31 crore for housing towers for government staff and aims to complete the capital by 2027, incorporating a greenfield airport, Quantum Valley, and global institutions like BITS-Pilani.
Accompanied by ministers and badminton legend Pullela Gopichand, Naidu also visited the Singapore Sports School, exploring potential collaborations in education and sports infrastructure. He addressed past tensions with Singapore, caused by the YSRCP’s 2019-2024 policies, reaffirming Andhra Pradesh’s investor-friendly stance with progressive policies in green energy, ports, and industrial hubs, positioning the state as a gateway for Singaporean investments into India.
