Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Tuesday that India-China relations have made consistent progress over the past 10 months, underpinned by mutual respect for each other’s interests and sensitivities. The statement followed a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi, marking a significant step in ongoing diplomatic engagements between the two nations.
In a social media post, Modi referenced his discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of a multilateral event in Kazan, Russia, in October 2024, noting that the dialogue has contributed to the steady advancement of bilateral ties. “Since my meeting with President Xi in Kazan last year, India-China relations have made steady progress guided by respect for each other’s interests and sensitivities,” Modi stated.
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister expressed optimism about his upcoming meeting with Chinese leadership at the SCO Summit in Tianjin. He emphasized that stable, predictable, and constructive relations between India and China are vital for regional and global peace and prosperity.
