Kuwait’s Defence Ministry reported on Friday that 67 army personnel have been injured since the start of Iran’s retaliation campaign, marking the highest number of casualties among Gulf militaries so far. The ministry provided the update amid ongoing hostilities in the region, as tensions continue to escalate following recent attacks.
Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, spokesperson for the Defence Ministry, confirmed the number of injured but did not specify the exact locations or circumstances of the injuries. Kuwait has also been actively intercepting incoming attacks, having identified and “dealt with” 212 ballistic missiles and 394 drones since Saturday, according to Al-Atwan.
The tiny Gulf nation has also suffered the highest death toll in the region, with eight out of 13 fatalities recorded in the Gulf occurring in Kuwait. Among the dead are four U.S. service members, two Kuwaiti army personnel, and two civilians. The U.S. reported a total of six service members killed across the conflict.

Kuwait has hosted a significant U.S. military presence since the Gulf War in 1990, when Washington intervened after Iraq’s invasion. The country is home to several American bases, including Camp Arifjan, which serves as the forward headquarters for the U.S. Army component of the military’s Middle East CENTCOM. The base also stores equipment and supplies for U.S. operations in the region.
Ali al-Salem Air Base hosts the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, described by the U.S. military as the “primary airlift hub and gateway for delivering combat power to joint and coalition forces” in the region. Additionally, the U.S. operates drones, including MQ-9 Reapers, from bases in Kuwait, underscoring the country’s strategic importance in regional military operations.
As the conflict continues, Kuwait remains at the forefront of military activity in the Gulf, with both local and international forces involved in defensive operations. Authorities have emphasized ongoing vigilance and coordination with allies to manage the impact of missile and drone strikes while safeguarding both military personnel and civilians.
