Two women professors from Vidya Jyothy Institute of Technology (VJIT) have filed a police complaint against Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) Vice-Chancellor T Kishen Kumar Reddy, alleging that he made derogatory, gender-discriminatory and intimidating remarks during a meeting. Police said they have received the complaint and are conducting an enquiry to establish the veracity of the allegations before deciding whether to register a case.
The complainants are VJIT principal A Srujana and D Aruna Kumari, a professor and head of the computer science engineering department at the institute. According to their complaint, the two had taken a prior appointment to meet Reddy on Tuesday and invite him to attend an event at VJIT scheduled for October 30. They said they approached the vice-chancellor in their official capacity and expected the meeting to be a routine academic interaction.
The professors alleged that Reddy behaved aggressively and did not offer them seats, telling them that they were merely servants of the institution and did not deserve ordinary courtesy. They further alleged that he raised his voice during the meeting and refused to attend the VJIT programme. According to the complaint, he tore up the invitation in front of them and threw it into a dustbin while allegedly making remarks that they said were intended to humiliate them.

The women further alleged that Reddy said he wanted to remove all women employees from their institution and made sweeping remarks that women were fit only to give birth, remain in the kitchen and stay confined to their homes. They claimed he also said women were incapable of contributing to an institution's progress and instead hindered its functioning. The complainants alleged that when they attempted to respond, they were not allowed to speak and that Reddy threatened to break their legs.
The complaint also alleges that the vice-chancellor made disparaging comments about Anurag University CEO Neelima during the interaction. The two professors described the alleged conduct as unbecoming of the head of a major technical university and said it violated their dignity. They have sought legal action against Reddy over the remarks and alleged threats.
KPHB police inspector G Vijay Kumar said the complaint had been received but an FIR had not yet been registered. Police are making enquiries into the allegations and will proceed with a case if they are prima facie established. The complaint remains an allegation at this stage, and the material provided does not include a response from Reddy or JNTUH to the accusations.
