External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Tuesday held discussions with a visiting delegation from Nepal’s ruling Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), led by its President Rabi Lamichhane, in New Delhi. The meeting focused on strengthening India–Nepal relations, particularly in areas of development cooperation and people-to-people ties.
Following the meeting, Jaishankar described the interaction as a productive exchange, noting that both sides discussed the importance of development partnerships in promoting growth and prosperity between the neighbouring countries. He also reiterated India’s emphasis on deepening cultural, economic, and diplomatic engagement with Nepal, a country with which India shares long-standing civilisational and geographic links.
The visit formed part of broader political exchanges aimed at enhancing dialogue between Indian and Nepalese political stakeholders. Earlier in the day, the RSP delegation also interacted with senior members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under its “Know BJP” initiative, which is designed to familiarise visiting political groups with the party’s organisational structure and governance model.
