A powerful explosion rocked the Quetta-bound Jaffer Express on Monday, derailing three coaches and injuring one person in Pakistan’s Sindh province, officials confirmed. The blast, which occurred near Shikarpur, has disrupted rail operations and left passengers stranded.
Sukkur Railways Divisional Superintendent Jamshaid Alam reported that the train was en route from Peshawar to Quetta when the explosion struck. Rescue teams rushed to the scene to begin repairs, but authorities estimate it could take five hours to restore the tracks. “The derailment has caused significant challenges for passengers,” Alam noted.
The Sindh administration has launched an urgent investigation to uncover the cause of the blast. This incident marks another blow for the Jaffer Express, which has faced repeated attacks. In June, a remote-controlled explosive derailed four coaches in Jacobabad, an assault claimed by the banned Baloch Republican Guards. Earlier, on March 11, terrorists hijacked the train, firing on the locomotive and holding over 400 passengers hostage.

As authorities work to secure the railway and investigate, passengers are left grappling with delays and safety concerns. The recurring targeting of the Jaffer Express raises questions about the security of Pakistan’s rail network.
