The recent escalation of violence in Gaza has resulted in at least 28 Palestinian deaths, including children and women, with numerous injuries reported. The Gaza Health Ministry confirmed that Israeli airstrikes targeted residential areas and various locations across Gaza, including the al-Mawasi region near Khan Younis and other crowded sites, resulting in significant civilian casualties and heightened fears of a large-scale conflict.
Since October 2023, Israeli military operations have led to over 69,546 Palestinian deaths and 170,833 injuries, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The death toll includes civilians, journalists, humanitarian workers, and children, emphasizing the severe humanitarian crisis unfolding on the ground. Israeli strikes are cited as the main cause of these casualties, with recent attacks also occurring in the southern Gaza region and near refugee camps, further worsening the humanitarian situation.
The Israeli Defence Forces justify their actions as targeted responses to rocket fire and militant activities by Hamas and other factions in Gaza. In contrast, Palestinian authorities and international groups describe these strikes as “genocidal” and accuse Israel of disproportionate use of force and collective punishment. Tensions have escalated with ongoing airstrikes coinciding with regional tensions, including clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the global community remains largely divided on supporting Israel’s military actions versus advocating for a diplomatic solution to end the conflict that has persisted since October 2023.
