The Indian Embassy in Iran has issued a stark advisory, urging Indian nationals to avoid non-essential travel to the country amid heightened regional instability. The warning comes in response to recent security developments, including the fallout from Israel’s "Operation Rising Lion" launched against Iran last month.
The advisory, shared on X, advises Indian citizens to closely monitor regional updates and follow official guidance before planning any travel to Iran. For those already in the country, the embassy highlighted available commercial flight and ferry options for those wishing to leave.
Tensions in the region spiked after Iran retaliated with airstrikes targeting Israel and a US military airbase in Qatar, following Israel’s offensive. The US further escalated the situation by striking three sites in Iran, aligning with Israel’s campaign to disrupt Iran’s alleged nuclear program—an ambition Tehran has consistently denied. The 12-day conflict concluded after US President Donald Trump announced a unilateral ceasefire on Israel’s behalf.
