At the 80th UN General Assembly in New York, India launched a scathing rebuttal against a “biased and baseless” UN report on Myanmar’s human rights, fiercely rejecting claims linking displaced persons from Myanmar to the April 2025 Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 civilians. MP Dilip Saikia, speaking during a briefing by special mandate holders, accused the Special Rapporteur of relying on “unverified and skewed media reports” designed to tarnish India’s global image.
Saikia reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for a “Myanmar-owned and Myanmar-led” peace process, emphasizing that lasting stability hinges on inclusive political dialogue and credible elections. He highlighted India’s humanitarian leadership through Operation Brahma and Operation Sadbhav, delivering critical aid during Myanmar’s natural disasters — proof of New Delhi’s commitment beyond rhetoric.
In a separate session on Disarmament Machinery, MP Sajda Ahmed underscored India’s dedication to multilateralism and the UN Charter, insisting the Conference on Disarmament remains the sole legitimate forum for global security negotiations. Despite rising global tensions, she expressed optimism for pragmatic, collective solutions and pledged India’s full cooperation.

The Indian delegation, led by Lok Sabha MP Dr. D. Purandeswari, also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at UN Headquarters — a symbolic gesture of peace amid diplomatic firestorms. As India pushes back against weaponized narratives, its message is clear: humanitarian ally, not scapegoat.
