The Anil Chauhan held high-level discussions with his British counterpart, Richard Knighton, during his official visit to the United Kingdom, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to addressing emerging global challenges and strengthening cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. The meeting underscored growing defence ties between India and the UK amid shifting geopolitical and technological landscapes.
According to the Headquarters of Integrated Defence Staff, the two defence chiefs discussed a wide range of contemporary security concerns, including global trade imbalances, cyber threats, and rapid technological transformation. Both sides emphasised the importance of maintaining a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, while deepening collaboration in defence and strategic domains. Officials noted that the engagement reflects a shared vision for enhanced global security and resilience.
During the visit, Anil Chauhan also interacted with faculty and participants at the Royal College of Defence Studies, where he spoke on evolving global security challenges and the changing nature of modern warfare. He highlighted India’s strategic considerations and its role in contributing to a more stable international order, while addressing a senior cohort on military strategy in the context of recent global conflicts.

The CDS also held meetings with UK defence industry leaders, focusing on strengthening cooperation in defence manufacturing, technology transfer, and supply chain resilience. He stressed that deeper economic integration between the two countries could enable co-design, co-development, and co-production of advanced military technologies. The discussions reflected a growing emphasis on industrial collaboration as a key pillar of the India-UK defence partnership.
In addition, Chauhan met UK defence and Indo-Pacific officials, including discussions on cyber security, intelligence sharing, and space-related capabilities. He engaged in talks aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in information resilience and specialised training exchanges. The Indian defence chief also participated in a roundtable discussion with experts and think tanks on India’s military transformation, focusing on the role of emerging technologies and joint operational capabilities.
The visit also included a ceremonial reception in London and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Memorial Gates, honouring fallen soldiers. Officials said the engagement reflects a strengthening strategic convergence between India and the UK, with both nations committed to building future-ready armed forces and expanding cooperation across defence, technology, and security domains.
