A tragic head-on collision between a bus and a truck on National Highway 28 in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district claimed the life of the bus driver and left 20 pilgrims injured late Monday night. The bus, carrying devotees from Motihari, Bihar, to Ajmer Sharif, Rajasthan, was traveling on the wrong side of the highway when the accident occurred near the Jolenia cut in the Hata area, police reported.
Circle Officer Kundan Kumar Singh identified the deceased as Subesh Mohan, a resident of Siwan, Bihar. His body was sent for post-mortem examination. The injured pilgrims were rushed to Hata Community Health Centre, with six in critical condition transferred to Kushinagar Medical College for advanced treatment.
Authorities have notified the families of the injured. The police are investigating the circumstances leading to the bus traveling against traffic, which caused the fatal crash. The incident has raised concerns about road safety on busy highways, particularly during pilgrim travel seasons.
