US Senator Raphael Warnock has condemned the recent attack on a girls’ school in Iran that reportedly killed more than 170 children, calling the tragedy “a shock to our conscience” and urging accountability for those responsible.
Raphael, a Democratic Party member and pastor, highlighted the moral imperative to address the loss, stating on social media: “A nation whose leaders can so easily shrug off the death of children, no matter the cause, is in need of moral repair.” He emphasized the universality of human dignity, adding, “We must never forget that Iranian children, too, are children of God.”
The attack has sparked international outrage, with Tehran attributing blame to US and Israeli forces, though these claims have not been independently verified. Analysts note that the incident raises serious concerns about the protection of civilians in conflict zones and could further inflame tensions in the already volatile region.

Raphael’s call comes amid growing global calls for an impartial investigation and accountability for the victims. He stressed that lessons must be drawn from the tragedy to prevent future atrocities and to reinforce adherence to international humanitarian norms.
The US government has yet to issue an official response to the attack, and the broader international community continues to monitor developments closely, particularly regarding potential diplomatic and humanitarian repercussions.
