At least four people, including two children, were injured on Friday when an explosion shook the Ummal Qura International Madrasa in the Hasnabad area near Dhaka, Bangladesh. The blast caused significant structural damage, collapsing walls of two classrooms and leaving cracks in the roof and supporting columns.
Police reported that explosives and materials used for making bombs were recovered from the madrasa premises. Senior police official Mizanur confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Classes were not in session at the time, as it was a weekly holiday.
Local residents stated that the madrasa, which accommodates around 50 students, was previously managed by Mufti Harun before being handed over to his brother-in-law, Al Amin. Following the blast, authorities seized chemicals, crude explosive devices, and bomb-making equipment from the site.

The building’s owner, Parveen Begum, expressed shock, saying she had no knowledge of illegal activities being conducted under the guise of the madrasa. “When I went there on Friday, I saw that the area around the building had been blown apart,” she said.
This incident follows a deadly blast on Wednesday in the Mogbazar area of Dhaka, where a crude explosive thrown from a flyover killed a man named Siam. Police are investigating both incidents amid growing concerns over the rising violence and deteriorating law and order situation in the country.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant while the police work to identify those responsible for the explosions. The incidents have intensified fears about public safety in Dhaka and the surrounding regions, prompting calls for stricter monitoring of suspicious activities.
