Bahrain’s Interior Ministry reported on Sunday that three people were injured and a university building damaged after missile debris fell in the Muharraq area, northwest of Manama. The ministry described the incident as a consequence of “blatant Iranian aggression,” as tensions escalate in the Gulf region amid Iran’s ongoing air operations.
The debris reportedly originated from missiles launched as part of Iran’s intensified air campaign against neighbouring Gulf states. While the injuries were not life-threatening, the incident highlighted the growing risks to civilian infrastructure and public safety in the region.
In a related development, Iran’s state media reported damage to a water desalination plant caused by drone attacks, emphasizing the ongoing security and humanitarian implications of the conflict. The strikes have disrupted critical infrastructure, affecting both water and energy supplies in the affected areas.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded to the escalation, warning that his country “will be forced to respond” to any attack or invasion attempts from neighbouring countries. Speaking on state television, he stressed that any response would be defensive and not intended to target civilian populations.
“If Iran’s enemies try to use any country to attack or invade our land, we will be forced to respond to that attack. Responding does not mean we have disputes with that country or wish to harm its people — we would be responding out of necessity,” Pezeshkian said, underscoring Tehran’s stance on protecting its territory while claiming limited intent against neighbouring populations.
The incidents in Bahrain and Iran illustrate the rising regional tensions in the Gulf, with both civilian safety and critical infrastructure increasingly at risk. International observers are urging restraint and dialogue to prevent further escalation as Gulf states and Tehran navigate a volatile security environment.
