Macquarie University has launched a generous scholarship package for Indian students, offering up to Rs 28.5 lakh in financial aid for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The initiative combines the India Early Acceptance Scholarship, worth AUD 10,000 (approximately Rs 5.7 lakh) annually, with a one-time Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship of the same amount. For a standard four-year degree, the recurring annual support alone totals Rs 22.8 lakh, making higher education in Australia significantly more accessible for qualified Indian applicants.
The India Early Acceptance Scholarship provides AUD 10,000 in the second semester of the first year, followed by approximately AUD 5,000 (Rs 2.8 lakh) per semester for the duration of the programme. This structured payout ensures sustained financial relief throughout the course. Both bachelor’s and master’s students are eligible, provided they meet admission criteria and maintain enrolment in compulsory study periods. The scholarships apply across various disciplines, reflecting Macquarie’s commitment to attracting global talent.
In addition to these flagship awards, Indian students can apply for specialised scholarships such as the Faculty of Science and Engineering Sustainability Scholarship and the Faculty of Science and Engineering FIRST Australia Scholarship, each valued at AUD 5,000 annually. These targeted funds support students pursuing STEM fields, aligning with Australia’s emphasis on innovation and sustainability. The university’s holistic approach allows high-achieving candidates to stack multiple awards, further reducing financial barriers.

To qualify for the India Early Acceptance Scholarship, applicants must be Indian citizens, accept their offer letter, and pay the commencement fee by the deadline. They cannot receive full-tuition government sponsorship unless approved by Macquarie’s scholarship team. The application process is integrated into the university’s admissions system, requiring no separate form. With over 3,000 Indian students currently enrolled, Macquarie ranks among Australia’s top destinations for international education, known for its research-intensive programmes and industry partnerships. This scholarship expansion underscores growing educational ties between India and Australia, bolstered by bilateral agreements promoting student mobility and academic collaboration.
