Large crowds gathered in Iran’s capital Tehran on Saturday for a funeral ceremony held for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reports from the event. The gathering took place at the Grand Mosalla prayer complex, where mourners assembled under tight security arrangements to pay their respects. The ceremony came amid claims reported in the source material that Khamenei had been killed in US-Israeli attacks in late February, a development that allegedly triggered wider regional conflict.

Mourners, many of them emotional and in tears, moved through strict security checkpoints as they entered the venue. The gathering was also affected by intense summer heat, with temperatures rising into the mid-thirties Celsius and water being distributed to attendees as they moved through restricted access routes.

The funeral comes amid broader claims of a regional conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, which the report says escalated following the alleged killing. It also references ongoing diplomatic efforts and intermittent exchanges of fire despite preliminary agreements aimed at reducing tensions.
