An Air India flight operating from Mumbai to Bhopal was forced to make a precautionary landing on April 26 after the crew detected a technical issue mid-journey, according to airline officials. The aircraft, operating as Flight AI633, was safely handled by the crew, and all passengers disembarked without any injuries or further complications upon reaching their destination.
Air India confirmed the incident and stated that the cockpit crew followed standard safety procedures after identifying the technical concern. The airline emphasised that all necessary precautionary measures were taken during the flight to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members. Authorities also clarified that the aircraft landed safely, and no emergency situation developed during the operation.
While the landing caused temporary concern among passengers, officials confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries reported. After the aircraft reached Bhopal, passengers were asked to disembark as a precaution while the airline initiated technical inspections. Further details regarding the nature of the technical issue have not been disclosed at this stage.

In a separate development, Air India also announced a significant upgrade to its long-haul fleet, unveiling the first of its retrofitted Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. The aircraft, registered as VT-ANT, marks the beginning of a major cabin modernisation programme covering 26 Boeing 787 aircraft in the airline’s fleet. The retrofit was carried out at Boeing’s Modification Centre in California, along with a repaint in the airline’s updated livery.
The upgraded aircraft now features a redesigned three-class cabin layout, replacing the earlier two-class configuration. The interiors have been enhanced with improved seating arrangements and a modern in-flight entertainment system. This upgrade brings the older Boeing 787-8 aircraft in line with the newer Boeing 787-9 fleet introduced earlier this year, signalling Air India’s broader push to modernise its international operations and improve passenger experience.
