Air India passengers traveling from Singapore to Chennai were left in limbo on Sunday after flight AI349 was cancelled due to a sudden technical snag. The Airbus A321 aircraft, slated for the route, was grounded after a routine check revealed a maintenance issue that required more time than expected to fix.
The airline issued a statement confirming that the fault was discovered prior to departure and emphasized that passenger safety remained their top priority. “A maintenance task identified before take-off required additional rectification time, leading to the unavoidable cancellation,” Air India said.
To mitigate the disruption, Air India has arranged hotel accommodations for all affected passengers in Singapore. The airline is also offering full refunds or complimentary rescheduling options based on individual preferences. "We are committed to minimizing the inconvenience to our guests and ensuring alternate arrangements are made at the earliest," the airline added.

Air India’s ground teams at Changi Airport are said to be working round-the-clock to assist passengers and provide timely updates. However, the incident has sparked frustration among travelers, with many expressing disappointment over yet another technical issue involving the airline.
This cancellation follows a series of recent technical snags reported in Air India's fleet, raising questions about the airline’s maintenance protocols and operational readiness. As India's flagship carrier continues its transformation under the Tata Group, such incidents put pressure on the airline to enhance reliability and customer experience.
