Ladakh-based activist Sonam Wangchuk has announced that he will continue his ongoing fast until youth leaders protesting under the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) banner are allowed to meet Members of Parliament or he is permitted to meet them at the hospital in Delhi where he is currently admitted. Wangchuk’s statement came after government representatives held discussions with the protesters.
Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali Angmo, shared a handwritten message from him on social media, expressing support for the protesting youth and their demand to present their concerns before lawmakers. In the note, Wangchuk said he was continuing his fast on the 23rd day and urged authorities to allow a peaceful dialogue between the protesters and Parliamentarians.
In his message, Wangchuk expressed concern over the manner in which the youth protests were being handled, describing the response as harsh against peaceful demonstrators. He appealed to the government and police to resolve the situation by allowing students to present their grievances before Parliament, saying that dialogue could help address the ongoing dispute.

The protesters associated with the Cockroach Janta Party have been demanding accountability from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over allegations related to the NEET-UG paper leak. The group has been using a satirical political platform to highlight their concerns and has sought action from authorities regarding the issue.
Wangchuk said he was encouraged by the protesters’ continued commitment to maintaining peace despite what he described as provocations. He appealed to the youth leaders to continue showing patience and tolerance while seeking a resolution through democratic channels.
The activist also expressed hope that the government would address accountability concerns surrounding the education ministry. His continued fast and support for the protesters have drawn attention to the broader debate over student grievances, examination reforms and government accountability.
