A 55-year-old professor, Pragya Agrawal, from Government Home Science College was found dead with injuries at her residence in Amber Vihar, Jabalpur, on Friday, triggering a police investigation. The body, discovered in a pool of blood by a domestic help around 10 am, bore a slit wrist and a small cut on the neck, raising suspicions of foul play.
Additional Superintendent of Police Suryakant Sharma reported that Agrawal, who was unmarried and lived alone, was found after the domestic help alerted neighbors. The Garha police have registered a case of unnatural death and are examining forensic evidence and questioning acquaintances. City Superintendent of Police Ashish Jain noted that while initial findings suggest suicide, the autopsy report will confirm the cause of death.
The case has sparked local concern, with police analyzing CCTV footage and call records to uncover any leads. The investigation continues to determine whether the death was self-inflicted or involved external factors.
