A shocking case of alleged harassment and assault has surfaced from Nehru Place, where two women were reportedly attacked by a group of men while having tea early Sunday morning. The incident took place around 7 am near a hotel, and the victims later alleged they were beaten, molested, abused with racist slurs, and chased while several bystanders watched without intervening.
According to the complaint filed at Kalkaji Police Station, the trouble began when two men allegedly started catcalling the women and making inappropriate comments. The victims said the men removed their shirts and continued behaving aggressively. One of the women confronted them over the remarks, after which the atmosphere quickly turned hostile. The women then moved away in an attempt to avoid further confrontation, but the accused allegedly returned with more men.
The women claimed the group surrounded them and began verbally abusing them while making racist comments targeting their backgrounds, as one victim is from Assam and the other from Bihar. One of the women alleged she was molested during the attack and had her clothes torn. The accused also allegedly assaulted the victims physically and attacked them with a bamboo stick while they tried to escape from the spot.

Police officials said the victims managed to record parts of the incident on their phones. One of the videos reportedly shows several men abusing the women and reacting angrily after noticing they were being filmed. According to police, the footage captured one accused asking others what to do after realising a video was being recorded. Investigators later used the clips along with CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects involved in the case.
The victims also expressed anger over the lack of help from the public during the incident. They alleged several people gathered nearby and watched the attack unfold, while some even laughed, but no one stepped in despite repeated cries for help. One of the women later said the incident left her traumatised and unable to sleep or eat properly. She added that women should be able to move freely in the city without constantly fearing for their safety.
Both women were taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences for medical examination after police arrived at the scene. Authorities registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including assault, stalking, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, and outraging the modesty of a woman. Police later arrested four accused identified as Md Fahad, Md Savej, Md Arif, and Aman alias Mohd Faheem alias Kala. Officials said further investigation into the incident is underway.
