Amritpal Singh Dhillon (26), a resident of Dasupur in Kartarpur, has been arrested for fatally striking Fauja Singh, the world's oldest marathoner, in Punjab's Jalandhar district. The incident occurred on Monday in Singh's native Bias village when Dhillon, driving an SUV from Bhogpur to Kishahgarh, hit the 114-year-old, reportedly tossing him 5-7 feet into the air, villagers said. Singh succumbed to his injuries that evening.
Police have seized Dhillon's vehicle and filed an FIR against him under sections 281 (rash driving) and 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The arrest marks a step toward justice for the loss of a legendary figure whose inspiring legacy touched many lives.
