Two families in Telangana are mourning the deaths of their sons in separate incidents abroad, with one man dying after suffering severe burns in a fire in the United States and another being killed in a road accident in Malta. Bharath Chander Reddy, 29, from Hanamkonda district, died in a Florida hospital after battling critical burn injuries for 15 days. Mohammed Abdul Jawad, 27, from Jagtial district, was killed in a road accident in Qormi, Malta.

Bharath suffered burns to nearly 75 per cent of his body after a fire on July 25. He was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Florida, where he remained under treatment for 15 days before succumbing to his injuries. His death has left his family devastated, particularly after his parents, who work as agricultural labourers, reportedly made significant financial sacrifices to support his education and journey abroad.

Bharath had travelled to the United States in 2023 to pursue higher education. According to his family, they had spent their savings on his medical treatment following the accident. He had been planning to return to India after completing his education and hoped to settle down with his family. His death has added to the financial and emotional burden faced by his parents, who had invested heavily in his future.

In a separate incident, Mohammed Abdul Jawad was killed in a road accident in Qormi, Malta, on Tuesday. According to details cited by Maltese authorities, Jawad was driving a Toyota truck when it collided with a trailer. He became trapped inside the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene. A magistrate has opened an inquiry into the incident, while Maltese police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Jawad’s family is now seeking assistance to bring his remains back to Telangana. The family has appealed for support in completing the legal and administrative procedures required for repatriation. AIMIM MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala also urged Indian authorities to intervene and expedite the process, highlighting the difficulties faced by the family following Jawad’s death.

Balala said he had requested the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian officials in Malta to provide assistance to the bereaved family. He also said that a formal request had been submitted by AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi seeking help with Jawad’s repatriation. The two separate deaths have brought renewed attention to the challenges faced by Indian families when seeking medical assistance, legal support and repatriation procedures following tragedies involving relatives abroad.
