Telangana police have uncovered an alleged illegal drug manufacturing unit operating from a poultry farm on the outskirts of Annasagar Village, leading to the seizure of Alprazolam and other materials. The raid was conducted by the state’s anti-drug unit, EAGLE Force, which found that the farm was allegedly being used as a front for producing narcotic substances. According to officials, the operation was carried out at the Lakshmi Narasimha Poultry Farm, where officers seized more than one kilogram of Alprazolam, a sedative drug valued at over ₹20 lakh.
Police also recovered chemical supplies and equipment allegedly used for manufacturing the substance. Four people have been arrested in connection with the suspected drug racket. Investigators said the facility appeared to have been designed to conceal illegal activities behind the appearance of a regular poultry farming operation. Police identified 39-year-old Jaya Prakash Goud as the alleged mastermind behind the operation. Officials said Goud was a repeat offender who had previously been arrested for allegedly operating a similar drug manufacturing unit inside a school premises.
According to enforcement authorities, Goud was released on bail several months ago but allegedly violated bail conditions and went into hiding before setting up the new operation at the poultry farm. Investigators said the latest discovery indicated that he had resumed similar activities despite earlier legal action. Police also arrested the landowner, identified as 58-year-old ration dealer Boya Narasimhulu. Investigators alleged that Narasimhulu provided the property and shelter that allowed the suspected illegal operation to function away from public attention.

Officials said the Alprazolam manufactured at the facility was allegedly supplied to local dealers for mixing with toddy, a traditional alcoholic beverage consumed in parts of Telangana and other southern states. Authorities are investigating the supply network and identifying others who may have been involved. The raid is part of Telangana’s broader crackdown on illegal drug production and distribution. Law enforcement agencies have been conducting operations against narcotics networks, particularly those involved in the manufacture and sale of controlled substances.
Alprazolam is a prescription medication belonging to the benzodiazepine group and is used medically for certain anxiety-related conditions. However, its unauthorised production, sale and misuse can lead to serious health risks and legal consequences. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the alleged operation, including the source of raw materials, the distribution chain and possible links with other drug networks.
The seizure has raised concerns over the use of unconventional locations such as farms and abandoned facilities to conceal illegal activities. Police officials have urged citizens to report suspicious activities and said further action will be taken based on evidence collected during the investigation. As the case progresses, investigators are expected to produce the arrested individuals before the court and gather additional information about the alleged narcotics network operating in the region.
