A major anti-drug operation in Telangana has uncovered an alleged illegal narcotics manufacturing unit operating from a poultry farm on the outskirts of Annasagar village. During the raid, the Telangana Police's Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force seized more than one kilogram of Alprazolam, an anti-anxiety drug that is commonly abused as a narcotic, with the recovered consignment estimated to be worth over Rs 20 lakh. Four people have been arrested in connection with the case.
According to police, the raid was carried out at Lakshmi Narasimha Poultry Farm, which investigators allege was being used as a front to manufacture illegal drugs. In addition to the Alprazolam, officers recovered a large quantity of chemicals and equipment allegedly used in the production process. The seized materials have been sent for further examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigators identified the alleged mastermind as 39-year-old Jaya Prakash Goud, who, according to officials, has previously been arrested in a similar case. Police said Goud was arrested last year for allegedly operating an illegal drug laboratory from a school premises. After securing bail, he is alleged to have violated his parole conditions, gone into hiding and established the new operation inside the poultry farm.

Police also alleged that the owner of the property, 58-year-old ration dealer Boya Narasimhulu, knowingly allowed the premises to be used to conceal the illegal laboratory. Investigators are examining the role of each accused in the operation, including their involvement in procuring chemicals, manufacturing the drug and distributing it through local networks.
According to the EAGLE Force, the Alprazolam produced at the facility was allegedly supplied to local dealers who mixed it with toddy, a traditional fermented beverage consumed in parts of Telangana. Officials warned that the adulteration of alcoholic beverages with potent sedatives can pose serious health risks, including unconsciousness, respiratory depression and other life-threatening complications for unsuspecting consumers.
The EAGLE Force has launched a wider investigation to identify the financial network behind the operation, trace the source of the chemicals used in manufacturing and locate other individuals allegedly connected to the distribution chain. Police said further arrests are likely as investigators continue to examine evidence and dismantle the alleged drug trafficking network operating in the region.
