In a heartfelt address during Teachers’ Day celebrations in Hyderabad on September 5, 2025, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who also oversees the education portfolio, called on government school teachers to dine with students to ensure high-quality meals. Expressing concern over past incidents of food poisoning in state-run schools, Reddy emphasized that sharing meals would uphold food preparation standards. He pledged to personally visit schools and join students for meals, reinforcing his commitment to improving facilities.
Reddy highlighted the state’s investment in education, with Rs 130 crore allocated annually for school maintenance and the involvement of women’s Self Help Groups. He noted a significant enrollment increase, with three lakh additional students joining Telangana’s 27,000 government schools this year, serving 24 lakh students compared to 34 lakh in 11,000 private schools. “Teachers in government schools generally have better qualifications,” he remarked, praising their role in reversing dropout trends.
To elevate educational standards, Reddy announced plans to send 200 teachers annually to countries like Singapore and South Korea to study best practices, citing their success as models for development. A committee, including former Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao and MLA Kadiam Srihari, has been tasked with formulating a new state education policy.

Drawing inspiration from former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s electoral success through education reforms, Reddy candidly linked quality education to political longevity, stating, “If you work well, there would be a possibility for me for a second and third term.” He urged teachers to prioritize quality education for economically weaker sections, emphasizing, “Education alone can change destiny.”
In a subtle critique of the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, Reddy questioned whether Teachers’ Day was celebrated post-Telangana’s formation in 2014, underscoring his administration’s focus on education. By fostering teacher-student engagement and global exposure, Reddy’s initiatives aim to transform Telangana’s government schools into hubs of excellence, ensuring equitable opportunities for all.
