In a stunning operation on July 10, 2025, Jammu police arrested Gurjeet Singh and Navneet Kour, a brother-sister duo from Tanda village in R S Pura, with 550 grams of heroin valued at Rs 70 lakh. The siblings were intercepted during a routine check at the Balol checkpost in Miran Sahib, riding a scooty that concealed the illicit drugs. Authorities seized the vehicle and registered an FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Miran Sahib police station.
The bust comes on the heels of their mother's arrest by Punjab Police in June for drug peddling, hinting at a possible family-run operation. Police are interrogating the siblings to uncover details about the drug supply chain and its distribution network.
The source and destination of the heroin remain under investigation, with a financial probe launched to trace the proceeds of this illegal trade. This high-stakes arrest underscores Jammu's ongoing battle against the narcotics trade, with authorities determined to dismantle the network behind this Rs 70 lakh haul.
