Nearly 200 individuals — including former students and faculty of Al-Falah University in Faridabad, local imams, shopkeepers, diagnostic lab owners, and even some Kashmiri students who once shared hostel rooms with the bombers — have been placed under active surveillance by the National Investigation Agency and Delhi Police Special Cell following the audacious low-intensity blast near the Red Fort that shook the national capital last month.
Investigators say the three masterminds — Dr Umar Nabi (who died when the device accidentally detonated), Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie, and Dr Shaheen Shahid, both now in custody — operated a chillingly sophisticated “white-collar” module that used legitimate medical practice as perfect cover while quietly transferring small but regular online payments to dozens of local contacts in Haryana to buy loyalty, silence, and logistical help.
Recovered CCTV footage from October 29-30 shows the late Dr Nabi entering a modest clinic just 500 metres from Al-Falah University almost daily, always carrying two mobile phones and a black backpack later believed to contain bomb components; sources confirm one phone was for routine calls and family, while the second, now seized, was reserved exclusively for encrypted communication with handlers across the border.

With the arrest tally now at six — three highly qualified doctors, one influential cleric, a fertiliser dealer who allegedly supplied precursor chemicals, and a hawala operator handling terror funds — security agencies have fanned out across Faridabad, Nuh, Palwal, Ballabgarh and parts of Gurugram, raiding mosques, madrasas, rented PG accommodations, coaching centres, eateries and medical stores that formed the invisible support web of the module.
More than 65 separate CCTV grabs have already reconstructed Nabi’s final fatal journey: from Khalilpur toll plaza to Rewasan toll, then deep into Faridabad and finally Delhi, where the device went off prematurely; as forensic reports on deleted WhatsApp chats, Signal messages and financial trails trickle in, investigators warn this highly educated, professionally embedded terror cell signals a dangerous new evolution in urban jihadist strategy across India.
