In a significant blow to organized crime, Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) arrested two high-profile operatives of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang on the Patiala-Ambala Highway near Shambhu village on Thursday. The arrests mark a critical step in curbing the gang’s criminal activities in the region.
During the operation, authorities recovered a 9 mm Glock pistol and six live cartridges from the suspects, who were allegedly planning a "sensational crime" in Punjab under the direction of foreign-based handlers. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced the breakthrough on X, stating, "In a major breakthrough, Anti Gangster Task Force (#AGTF) Punjab, arrests two most-wanted Lawrence Bishnoi gang operatives from #Patiala-#Ambala Highway near Village Shambhu."
Preliminary investigations reveal the duo fled to Nepal after committing a murder and returned to execute another high-profile crime. They are linked to the recent murder of Bharat Ratan, alias Vicky, in Fazilka in May 2025. The accused have a notorious criminal history, with over 15 heinous crime cases registered against them across Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, including charges under various criminal statutes.

An FIR has been registered at the State Crime Police Station, SAS Nagar, and further investigations are underway to uncover additional connections and prevent future crimes. The Punjab Police's swift action has been hailed as a vital move in their ongoing campaign against organized crime, as emphasized by DGP Yadav, who reiterated their commitment to dismantling criminal networks.
