Three workers of the Indian National Congress were detained in Bhopal in connection with a controversy over an alleged “fake letter” linked to Vasundhara Raje, police officials said. According to authorities, the action followed the circulation of a purported letter attributed to the senior leader, which quickly gained traction on social media and triggered a political row. Investigators said preliminary findings suggest the document may have been fabricated, prompting a complaint and subsequent police intervention.
Police detained the three individuals for questioning as part of an ongoing probe to determine the origin and authenticity of the letter. Officials indicated that digital evidence, including mobile devices and online communication trails, is being examined to establish how the document was created and disseminated.
The controversy has sparked sharp reactions between political parties, with leaders trading accusations over attempts to mislead the public. The Congress has not issued a detailed statement on the detentions but indicated that it would respond after reviewing the facts of the case.
